Dirk Rasmussen
Restoration Program Manager
Dirk Rasmussen grew up in a farming community in rural northwestern Wisconsin and has lived in Colorado since 2009. He holds an M.S. in geology from Western Washington University and a B.A. in geology from Colorado College. Dirk’s research focuses on changes in river dynamics due to early Cenozoic climate change and uplift of the Rocky Mountains. In addition to landscape restoration work throughout Colorado, he is passionate about the expansive polar wilderness and multicultural community of Svalbard, Norway where he has worked seasonally as a guide for Poli Arctici since 2008. Currently, he lives near Leadville where he enjoys winter with his partner and Great Pyrenees for most of the year. Dirk is a Wilderness First Responder and speaks fluent Norwegian.
