John Peters
Western Slope Senior Conservation Project Manager
John joined Colorado Open Lands in 2014 and is the Senior Conservation Project Manager for the Gunnison Basin and northwest Colorado. John has over 17 years of experience working in the land conservation field. Beginning in 2006, John spent eight years at Virginia Outdoors Foundation working in both stewardship and new easement capacities, primarily in Fauquier County and eastern Virginia. Prior to VOF, John interned with Pacific Forest Trust located in San Francisco, and stewarded easements in northern California. John has a B.S. in Environmental Policy and Planning from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in Natural Resources from Virginia Tech’s Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability, where he focused on network creation, partnering and collaboration. Based in Denver, John enjoys exploring Colorado with his wife and dog-child.
