Protect the Colorado you love.

Over 80% of Coloradans agree – our land and water are worth saving. But did you know that only 3% of all charitable giving goes to the outdoors and animals?

Every dollar we raise stays in Colorado and helps protect and restore our state’s natural beauty, wildlife habitat, and healthy waterways for future generations.

Our conservation work is effective, collaborative, and permanent.

Colorado Open Lands is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a 43-year history of protecting the best of Colorado. We are Accredited, certified with the State of Colorado, and listed as a Platinum-level organization with Guidestar.

Or explore other ways to give!

In our 43-year history, we have achieved:

715 conservation projects
totaling 686,921 acres of land protected
in 50 Colorado counties
including 3,238 miles of waterways

You’re here because you believe that Colorado’s exceptional quality of life comes from our land and water.

Coloradans like you can play a critical role in protecting our state so future generations can enjoy the same Colorado we do today!

When you protect our land and water, you’re also protecting Colorado’s wildlife, scenic views, and cultural heritage.

You can help protect our Thriving Wildlife & Scenic Views

Colorado hosts a stunning variety of native animals and plants. Conserving land and water is the only way to ensure animals like pronghorn, elk, deer, and bears, who need intact migration routes, can thrive.  Land conservation also ensures that vulnerable species like the Gunnison Sage-grouse are able to survive.

Colorado also offers some of the most breathtaking views in the country.  Conserving our land protects the iconic viewscapes that we all cherish – wide open views that might otherwise turn into highways, houses, or strip malls. We expect millions more people to move to our state by 2050, making land conservation more important – and more urgent – than ever before.
